Seasons

October 7, 2015 by Karen Giebel Leave a Comment

The leaves are turning up in the mountains. I  see snow on the tops of the Alps from my kitchen window.

The roadside stands are full of Pumpkins and Winter Squash. The Strawberry fields are just a memory.

Hokkaido and Butternut Squash

The Farmers have brought their Dairy Cows down from Summer pasture up in the hills and they’re readying the barns for winter.

The last of the Silage Corn has been cut. The farmers are doing one last sweep of fodder grass and the frenzy of the harvest is drawing to a close.

We had a frost a few days ago and the air is chilled in the early morn. I threw a jacket on when I let Gracie out early today.

Darkness falls by 8pm and the sun struggles to wake up at 6:30 am. The children no longer run through the pastures late in the evening.

It’s quiet now as as we stack wood for the stoves and look for kindling.

We need to top it all off with 3 more cords

The pink roses of summer have faded and the yellows, burgundy’s and copper colors of Chrysanthemums now brighten our yards.

Mums certainly signal Fall

The seasons continue to change, Winter to Spring. Spring to Summer and Summer to Autumn. Each with its own special Grace.

And so go the seasons of our lives. Day after day. Week after week. Month after month. Year after year and each……with its own special Grace. From the brilliance of youth to the amber warmth of later years. As we journey through our seasons, I wish you  peace, joy, purpose and love.

Thanks for stopping by today. Journey on.
