TACO SEASONING

Why use a commercial product when homemade Taco Seasoning is a snap to make! No preservatives. No overly salty. No …”oh darn I am out of Taco seasoning” run to the store, just when you really can’t afford the time. This way you can make it up fresh as you go, or put together a few packages to have on hand for quick meals.

This is my favorite blend of herbs and spices. You may want to adjust the heat to your liking. Mine is on the mild side. I like highly seasoned food but I’m not a fan of heat.  A dash or two of cayenne can certainly take the heat up a notch. What really appeals to me about homemade seasoning mixes is being able to control the salt, so you get lots of flavor but not so much Sodium.

This makes enough to season 1 lb of ground beef or turkey. Use as you would prepackaged Taco Seasoning adding ¾ cup water to the browned ground meat with the Taco Seasoning and let simmer for a few minutes.

No more "Oh no! We're out of Taco Seasoning. No more, "Wow, this is salty." No preservatives! Just lots of great flavor. I store mine is small self sealing plastic envelopes for quick access on a busy weeknight for a fast delicious meal. This uses Chili Powder which is a combination of herbs and spices. Use your own or make up a batch of mine fresh!
